Four sisters and a Mom. Though this is what those of us who have read the novel, think this play is about – it isn’t only that. Sure, we know that these women are left behind to fend for themselves during the ravages of the American Civil War. However, we gain a new appreciation for Louisa May Alcott’s work, as it becomes obvious that she, like most artists, was a woman ahead of her time. There is a realization that sibling/parental/family and love relationships are forever unique, forever changing and forever enduring. TAG tackles this new adaptation by well-known playwright Kate Hamill with a fresh take on a timeless classic.
