Vivie Warren, a recent Cambridge graduate, learns unsettling truths about her estranged mother’s livelihood as she navigates complex social dynamics, explores her independence, and takes on societal norms.

What: 
Come prepared to sing a verse and a chorus of an “upbeat” ’80s song that shows your range. (It can be a song from the show). The cast recording of the music is available on most music streaming sites. Sides for the auditions will be posted online two weeks prior to the auditions and will be provided at the auditions.

Synopsis: 
Based on the 1988 rom-com that launched Julia Roberts career, Mystic Pizza tells
the story of three working-class waitresses who navigate the complexities of life, love, and
family in a small-town pizza joint. The infectious score features megahits of the ’80s and ’90s
that will sail right off the stage and into your heart, touching your emotions as the familiar music
embeds itself in your ears.

Principal Roles:

  • Josephina Barbosa – Female identifying late teens/early 20’s – vibrant, fast talking, emotional, curious, ambitious, always up for a laugh and loyal.
  • Daisy Arujo – Female identifying late teens/early 20’s – A combination of insecurity and arrogance, a pain in her mothers’ ass.Katherine Arujo – Female identifying late teens/early 20’s
  • Daisy’s younger sister, A desperate romantic and aspiring astronomer – the apple of her mother’s eye.
  • Leona Silvia – Female identifying 50+ Owner of Mystic Pizza who is near retirement – a sarcastic, wry yet loving mother figure to Jo, Daisy and Kat.
  • Bill Montijo – Male identifying Early 20’s – a rough yet warm, sensitive lobsterman who wants nothing more than to marry Jo and raise a family.
  • Charles Gordon Windor Jr. Male identifying Early 20’s – a rich preppy law school dropout with a surprising capacity for true love.
  • Tim Travers – Male identifying mid/late 20’s – an easy-going Yale-graduate, architect, with a secret.

Ensemble:

4 females and 5 males for various roles and to understudy the principal roles.

Rehearsals: 

Begin March 1, 2026, and will generally be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 7 to 9:30pm and Sunday evenings from 6 – 9:30 pm.
